And while I think (or, at least, I hope) large investors keep that in mind after so many high profile explosions like LTCM, I think small time retail investors tend to forget that, and that there's a reason Vanguard (for example) suggests 70% stocks and 30% bonds. Doesn't seem too important, until you need the money...
