A 4 year degree really helps when trying to get an employment visa in a developed country though. e.g. Japan has a 4 year degree or 10 years equivalent work experience requirement. There was a thread last year where lots of people commented about being rejected for a visa in Europe because they didn't have a degree, despite having multiple years of experience.
