I agree. Offensive statements and actions should be considered with their age along with the offending parties age. In fact, I'd argue that reflection upon mistakes is one of the most important drivers of growth and maturity. I personally have been deeply changed by learning that I've wronged someone, and been motivated to change my actions in the future.
