I have a soroban and it's amazing how fast one can compute without electronics and I am no expert at it. On top of that, it exposes a certain way of working with numbers that is very helpful for mental computations. On top of everything you get a nice tactile feeling with it. Will it replace my desk calculator, probably not, but it could.
