i have done my PMP 10 years back and maintained my credentials for almost 8 years.its boring curriculum, exams are boring too for techies.
I did PMP in hopes of moving from developer to PM, found later its not interesting enough just stuck to technology.
My take, if you wanted to grow in career develop domain expertise, if possible get into product management which gives exposure to all parts of the company.
- zer0sand0nes 7y agoWhy did you not find it interesting enough? After you got the PMP - did more recruiters start approaching you for PM roles?!
- sundaar75 7y agoI felt more satisfying in performing the job than managing team and getting status updates. I never applied for PM roles,my suggestion is ,just talk to any PM's and get a feel for the job. Alternative option is to see how your development work is fitting into larger context, switch to different projects so that you can see real business value in action ,not in papers.
