Because the UI/UX is terrible, and XMPP is not mobile friendly at all
- geggam 7y agoBeing ugly and functional is fine with me. Pretty and exploitable seems a bit silly as a reason for use. Pidgin does so much more than xmpp
- BlueTemplar 7y agoHmm, what is not mobile-friendly with, say, Conversations ?
- 693471 7y agoIt's not an app that can be awakened by a push notification.
- BlueTemplar 7y agoWhat ? https://github.com/siacs/Conversations/issues/1759 https://github.com/siacs/Conversations/issues/1759
- Andrew_nenakhov 7y agoThat is a big fat lie right here.
- 693471 7y agoNo it's not, setting up proper push notifications (Google/Apple) with XMPP is a nightmare and the XEP is not well supported anyway
- Andrew_nenakhov 7y agoThis is not true. XEP-0357 is very well supported by any modern XMPP server, and setting it up is easy. There are many issues with XMPP but push notifications is not one of them. Source: we are releasing an XMPP client for iOS soon.
