So far only one other comment seems to have pointed out that this is a patent filing -- from 2016, no less -- not a commitment. Apple has filed many, many patents over the years that haven't gone anywhere. Meanwhile, there's been several rumors from the supply chain that the next keyboard design from Apple that's actually going into production goes back to scissor switches. I think it might be worth waiting to see what the next new keyboard design -- which may not be the next laptop that they ship, depending on how far their infamously long pipeline stretches -- actually is before bringing out the tar and feathers.
