We should expect ideological reflexes to dominate discussion of this topic everywhere else, but can't we have a higher level of insight and discourse on HN? Can't we transcend our respective affiliations, prejudices and shibboleths to discuss this on its merits? For all of us who believe, as I do, that Bill Clinton's impeachment was completely justified in spite of the fact that it was prosecuted by right-wing partisans, can't we apply the same values and standards to the current situation? Must we torture the facts to benefit our team and hurt the opposition, with no intellectually objective escape? Does anyone have any new thoughts or insights, or are we fated to hurl prefabricated propaganda at each other?
