The author sixQuarks adds two points about difficulty in the automotive market that are level-headed and substantive. I had the same thoughts about Rivian, but if the Amazon truck deal becomes real and they can grow into the shell of another defunct car manufacturing plant, maybe they have a chance. Other replies add support about what Tesla has achieved ("make electric cars cool"). Tesla and Musk are polarizing for sure, fans and shorts abound here on HN. But I think this comment is right to highlight the irrational arguments around them, not to mention the outright hate.
