Ask HN: Data lake creation best practices

I would like to ask for your experience and recommendation when building a data lake. I am more interested in governance practices and the consuming part of the process rather than the ingestion and the technical part. I have not been able to solve questions for things such how to deal with the logical part of the data or the different layers of abstraction inside the data lake. I started reading The Enterprise Big Data Lake but I am not sure it is solving my doubts, so any read will also be welcome :)
