Great story about a creature making a comeback with the help of some hard-working humans. But, in my opinion, the best place for an oyster is in the ocean, not anywhere near my mouth.

- soperj 7y agoWhy wouldn't it be good for the ecosystem? Oysters clean the waterways...
- dsfyu404ed 7y agoI don't know. I'm just saying that if they go totally crazy with it there will probably be some unintended negative (depending on who you ask) consequences because ecosystems are complex.
- ceejayoz 7y agoIt's reasonable to assume oysters aren't the only organism to do this. It's probably fine to restore the oyster reefs to their former glory. It might not be fine to populate them with 10x the natural amount.
- ceejayoz 7y agoSustainable fisheries are largely a win/win scenario, especially where oysters are concerned. (I don't like eating them personally, that said, but that's a taste thing.)
