I don't have a single friend who I could ask to meet for a drink/socially. When I was 20 I had numerous close friends, but no wife and family, which have now replaced my friends. The relationship I have with my family I feel is much higher quality than I had with my friends. Friends (like family) can be hard work, maintaining friendships takes time and effort and I'm not willing to put in that effort, and I'm cool with that. I think it is too simplistic to say having no close friends is good or bad, it depends on your outlook.
