Germany and Denmark subsidizes way more as you can see on those prices as they are a direct reflection of the fact that it's more expensive to use wind and solar.
Furthermore you keep ignoring that wind and solar can't provide without coal, oil, gas or nuclear, the reverse is not true.
And thus if you want to compare the cost of nuclear with the cost of wind or solar you of course need to factor in the cost of the backup energy needed which among others include nuclear!
So no wind and solar are still much more expensive and doesn't provide stable energy.
- Retric 7y agoSubsidies have zero impact on the cost to produce Nuclear energy only who pays. If you want to talk about prices. Germany has already subsided past installations of wind and solar at high cost, that says nothing about installing new wind and solar at current prices. Further, Germany is a very poor location for Solar. It has about the same solar potential as Alaska, but you can install it in other locations and move cheaply move electricity long distances. I mean we are talking about a country who’s southern tip is 48 degrees north. Mane is like 43 degrees north.
- ThomPete 7y agoYou are the one talking about subsidies and you keep changing your argument. The fact is that wind and solar can't be the base of any countries energy as it's intermittency and low capacity factor makes it dependent on oil, gas, coal and nuclear. We don't need wind and solar, we couldnt' do without the others. Denmark is amazing for wind. That doesn't help since electricity is only 20% of the energy distribution.
