I will continue to double-space until I'm dead.

- larrik 16y agoHN comments don't respect whitespace as typed when displaying them. (' ' one space vs. ' ' two spaces) An effect of HTML, I'm sure. When I edit the post, the 2 spaces between the second set of quotes is indeed still there.
- stcredzero 16y agoFor the sake of consistency, HN should render -- as an actual dash.

- haploid 16y agoIt's a double space. HTML renderers don't display double spaces in the absence of an actual space entity like
- jerhinesmith 16y agoRight Click -> Inspect says it's two spaces. HTML ignores extra whitespace.

- fexl 16y agoYes, because my typing teacher in 1975 told me to do it.
- flatline 16y agoI do - deeply ingrained muscle memory from a touch typing class in high school, conditioned over years.
- graywh 16y agoMy muscle memory (using 2 spaces) after ~6 months of typing class was so conditioned it made it impossible to help my teacher evaluation some new software that used 1 space.

- bane 16y agoI actually do have one: Double space sentence delimiters simplify sentence tokenization into an almost trivial exercise in most cases. Single space delimiters make sentence tokenization actually quite hard.
