Expat Asian families do this a lot because the relationship is buttressed by a secondary relationship in the old country. It's not uncommon to see Indian tech workers lend each other six figures here in the Bay Area.

- novok 7y agoIn the USA? Often they don't count those gifts for mortgage downpayments unless you are blood related.
- scarejunba 7y agoIn the Bay Area and it does work. Don't know if that's changes recently. I observed three years ago.
- yardie 7y agoI’ve always been fascinated by how new Indian immigrants with limited resources can pull enough scratch to start a small business or franchise. Mostly without help from immediate family or rich friends.
