Kudos but it's not even necessary to go that far, basically sitting down and being indoors all day long is the culprit and incorporating more walking activities in our daily lives would be a good start. Pushups and exercises are good on the body but are not addressing root of the problem, they're merely ways to cope with it.
- hombre_fatal 7y agoI like the idea of a standup desk with a slow treadmill underneath: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LE0JtUeyVJA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LE0JtUeyVJA (Linus Torvalds Guides Tour of His Home Office)
- doc_gunthrop 7y agoStephen Wolfram also has the same. Here it is in action: https://blog.stephenwolfram.com/data/uploads/2019/02/05-treadmill-r22.gif https://blog.stephenwolfram.com/data/uploads/2019/02/05-trea...
- astura 7y agoI've tried playing video games (RPGs) on the treadmill and it's incredibly distracting, I can't imagine trying to code on one.
- marble-drink 7y agoYeah but I am sceptical about being able to enter truly deep thought while walking. I wonder how much work Torvalds actually does on it. He doesn't actually write much kernel code these days so might not need deep thought as much any more.
