It could be silicon based life reassembling itself into a super computer. And maybe it has evolved to a point where it’s capable of exploring the outside world just as we have as humans. At least that’s my leading hypothesis. After all silicon is one of the most abundant material inside the crust. It worked on the surface for carbon based life.
