Sure, those things are a problem and my post was in no way meant to be an exhaustive list of all the problems of the modern internet. But coming from a "traditional" publishing background, I look at the internet as just another publishing, and low-quality attention-grabbing content is nothing new in this context - just have a look at your local tabloid newspaper. The problems that you talk about in your 2nd paragraph really stem from what I hesitantly call human nature, and no tech solution is ever going to "fix" that.
