I don't understand why the upload speed is so slow for all the comcast packages. I reside in Portland, OR and Comcast seems to be the only descent option. However, the fastest upload speed I could get without springing for $300/month fiber was 35Mbs. I wound up paying $70/month for a package that provides 1000Mbs down and 35Mbs up despite only having modem that supports upto 283Mbs down just so I could get the faster upload speed.
- rudolph9 7y agoOk, just got done with the Comcast technician at my home and and unfortunately Comcast is not able to provide my router with a boot config to support higher upload :( I just get the default we is still giving me 5Mbs upload and somewhat ironically I now get 300Mbs download (previously 70Mbs). Has anyone put a custom boot config file on a home cable modem? Any resources you would recommend? Is this a fools errand?
- jalgos_eminator 7y agoWe have fiber through Frontier in certain parts of the metro as well. A few years ago I lived in a place in Beaverton with a 30/30 fiber connection for $35/month. My parents have fiber as well. They were original Verizon FiOS customers before Frontier took over.
