Like most such questions, the answer is both yes and no. You can learn the rules of Go, and how to play the game, in an hour. However, it can and does take many years to play it effectively and competently. Programming is the same way. I have been programming since I was 10 (starting on CBasic and Common Lisp), 40 years ago, and am amazed at how much there is to learn still. Start gradually, make a commitment to it over a long haul of years, and do deliberate practice every day making real things rather than coding problems. Contribute to Open Source projects, as working on a team will teach you much more than working by yourself.
