Did you mean "... especially with how effectively CIA and ISI worked in Afghanistan"?
- dmix 7y agoTrue the US did use AKs and Chinese equipment at first in Afghanistan to keep it deniable. At least until arming them with full on British and American MANPADs after it was obvious to everyone they were behind it. There's plenty of examples in history but no one has done it as boldly as the Ruskies. Iran already had plenty of experienced in the missile dept with Palestine and Lebanon so it's not exactly new to it either.
- gdy 7y agoI don't see anything particularly bold, the scale is much smaller and amount of help incomparable to billions of dollars worth of weapons that flooded Afghanistan thanks to the operation Cyclone.
