- wolf550e 7y agoChange it to "made famous by Google". Do you have an example of a famous large system built out of many cheap computers (cheaper than normal servers) that predates Google?

That approach is, in scientific computing, at least as old as Beowulf (1994, four years before Google was founded), the prototypical system from which we get the term “beowulf cluster”.
