Can someone explain the privacy implications? Is this part of the new always on Find Phone network? Does apple respond requests from LE to 'find person x'? Is there similar random UUID protections built in (e.g. change MAC address frequency)?
- jdnenej 7y agoNo need to worry. Apple told us they won't track us.
- rahuldottech 7y agoI get that Apple has a better rep than most other companies when it comes to user privacy, but that still doesn't mean that we should take everything that they say at face value. As users, it is up to us to stay vigilant and ensure that Apple is doing as promised.
- jdnenej 7y agoMy comment was satire about how apples proprietary systems offer us no more than some PR persons comment saying it's all ok.
- justinclift 7y agoSure. They might not track people, but if they ever share the user data with external places it's a moot question.
- m463 7y agoI would hope for (but probably will not get) a switch to turn this off. The problem is that apple is playing both sides. It wants things to be attractive and convenient for both users and businesses. For example, although they are a privacy company, they don't advertise bluetooth beacons and deep linking to their users.
