No. 1 Commandment as far as I'm concerned:
- Research your advisor before you enter a Ph.D program.
Because that's the only control you have as a student over the first 5 commandments.
- mattmight 16y agoThat's excellent advice. I always tell students that they should do two or even three independent studies in their first semester as a Ph.D. student. It's critically important to find the right match. /post co-author
