- bureaucrat 7y agoI’ve always had concerns about exposing MongoDB ObjectID to users. Is it safe?
- vasanthv 7y agoWhy is it not safe?
- n0strom0 7y agoMongoDB Dev Advocate here. The following is used to construct an ObjectId: The 12-byte ObjectId value consists of: a 4-byte value representing the seconds since the Unix epoch, a 5-byte random value, and a 3-byte counter, starting with a random value. Potentially, you could end up exposing the timestamp of when the document was created, but that's the only thing that might be a potential concern. You should be good to go! Additional Information about the MongoDB ObjectId can be found here: https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/reference/method/ObjectId/ https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/reference/method/ObjectId/
