Let's just let each other be excited about our favorite math, okay?
I don't think it's malicious, we're just trying to narrow down exactly what makes something interesting. In the process, we get to understand our favorite math more deeply.
Nothing is surprising if you've seen it before.
On the other hand, if you can find a theory that makes a miracle look mundane, then the theory is probably interesting.
So finding reasons why something is `not surprising' is a good guide to finding interesting math.
