Why does horizontal space matter on desktop anyway?
- IggleSniggle 7y agoOh believe me, for the information dense designs I’m working from, and needing to support a baseline desktop resolution, every pixel matters! I would never want to take that out on someone’s scrollbars tho. Scrollbars are sacred.
- homonculus1 7y ago>information dense designs All well and good for you but our author here is working with 40-50% whitespace anyway! Why the hell does he need to hide and minimize fundamental features to reclaim more fucking whitespace? Aaaaargh, designers are from a different species!
- Isamu 7y agoYes, please stop. Changing the scrollbar is another unwanted overreach that ruins my user experience.
- ginko 7y ago>Why does horizontal space matter on desktop anyway? Because some people like to tile their screens into two halves.
- wvenable 7y agoWe had scroll bars when desktops where 640x480.
- braythwayt 7y agoThe very idea of scrollbars was popularized with a desktop that was 512x342!
