It seems like the latter, though if so, it's surprising to me that it hasn't been removed. Wikipedia's editors are pretty brutal about the notoriety threshold.

- pessimizer 7y agoOnly with things in which editors exist who feel confident enough (sometimes wrongly) to judge their notability. You can completely make up pages describing concepts in obscure fields, as long if you can generate a citation or three - bonus points if the papers cited are unintelligible to all but a few dozen people in the world, and don't even mention the concept.
