I really want to see a discussion of this here, to gauge if HN has doubts on this “myth of progress.”
- vectorEQ 7y agoit depends on how you define progress. someone can see progress where others see things moving in the wrong direction or even backwards. it's an opinion what progress is.
- smarri 7y agoInteresting, a paradox of progress. In one observers view it's moving forward, in another, backward.
- smarri 7y agoI'd love to see a discussion here too. If I've understood John Gray correctly, human progress isn't cumulative, such as the way science and technology is, as it builds upon prior work. Intriguing.
