A week ago we discussed Om Malik's article "Camera sales are falling sharply". I am one of those people who now does not upgrade his camera, nor use it any more, as much as I like it. I use my smartphone, albeit with some aftermarket Moment wide- and fish-eye lenses on it.
This phone makes total sense to me. The money I used to spend on cameras and lenses will be captured by the smartphone companies.

- kayoone 7y agoWell, for the casual user i agree, but wasn't that the case for a long time already? If you try shooting something that is quite far away or lightning conditions not optimal, a proper camera is still on a different level than any smartphone camera.
- cromulent 7y agoAbsolutely, a real camera is on a different level. Photography is so pervasive now, so much a part of everyday life. For the casual to low level enthusiast, carrying a "Pro" smartphone is good enough and more convenient. Computational photography is also a thing. The iPhones 11 are on the front page of DPReview, which is interesting.
