Of course until it is harder and more formal nobody will use it. But the writer doesn't really imagine how or why could be video superior to text and audio. I am talking about the feelings that are missunderstood or the joy of the shared (virtual) place. There is AR, there is auto-tune, there is WOW, there is no need to get your pants when you can have a virtual avatar that mimics your feelings and movement. There are many possibilites why could be video better when we want to hang out.. Think of kinect when they play together etc. This will never exchange good old sms/email (delayed communication) when you just need an answer but don't really feel to talk, but there could be a place for it.
