I used to respect the author, not anymore. This is a very weak argument when you consider the rate of species loss is much, much greater than 'normal'. Yes, 99.99% of all species to ever exist are extinct but we are pulling species out that would have continued if not for us. Denying this will only make it worse in our soundbite culture.
