- a012 7y agoI'd suggest to read "Kubernetes: Up and Running" book, it's short enough and cover basics of k8s. Also it's important to have hands-on k8s cluster, so Google Kubernetes Engine would help a lot about spinning up a cluster.
- funkymike 7y agoI had to get up to speed on k8s at work this year and from that experience I would recommend to use minikube at first. Only go to GKE or such once you outgrow minikube. Doing minikube first also makes for a nice way to develop an application. Minikube for local development and testing, then deploy to GKE for QA & prod.
- maffydub 7y agoFor a very hands-on, getting-started tutorial, Katacoda is pretty awesome: https://katacoda.com/courses/kubernetes https://katacoda.com/courses/kubernetes
- smartbit 7y agoWith these these resources it will be difficult not to pass the CKA exam: - kubernauts.slack.com & https://twitter.com/kubernauts/ https://twitter.com/kubernauts/ - https://github.com/walidshaari/Kubernetes-Certified-Administrator https://github.com/walidshaari/Kubernetes-Certified-Administ... - https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/13EQKZSQDounPC1I6EC4PmqaRmdCrpT3qswQJz9KRCyE/edit https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/13EQKZSQDounPC1I6EC4P...
- xena 7y agoBanging your head into things until it works, then figuring out why it worked.
- bryanlarsen 7y agoI'd recommend GitLab Auto-DevOps, although I'm sure there are others in this space, which provides a Heroku-like experience on Kubernetes. That way you don't have to learn Kubernetes in one big bang. You'll still probably need/want to learn Kubernetes eventually so you know what GitLab is doing for you and some of the tradeoffs involved but it's not a roadblock to getting stuff done, and starts you off with a fairly sane configuration.
- k__ 7y agoI did so in the beginning unf 2018 and after reading around and talking to some cloud people, I got the impression that the best idea is going right for serverless unless you have a real need for the stuff tha k8s gives you over it.
- tannhaeuser 7y agoI think the originally-posted site has the answer for you [1] ;) Of course, it's slightly out of date and you need daaal and temple8 in 2019. [1] https://christine.website/blog/experimental-rilkef-2018-11-30 https://christine.website/blog/experimental-rilkef-2018-11-3...
- falcolas 7y agoThe other suggestions are great; it boils down to run kubernetes and use it. I like minikube for my local system, but it won't help learn how to run Kubernetes itself.
