I'd like to know more details about this but I sense we have what's important already. Version control and backups are basically a form of insurance. Sometimes even a complete backup doesn't help. Even losing a week on a fast changing code base can set you back a month. The path you take forward has value as much as the destination. Insurance is completely useless right up until you need to claim. Then it is the most important thing ever and suddenly it is absolutely critical to getting back on track.
