It's harder to get a remote job. There are more non remote jobs than remote. So if you're looking for a job, you have a set of 3 choices, remote only, non remote or both. Moving when you have a remote job is cool, but if things get tough say in an economy downturn and you need a new job. You might find that it's more difficult to get another remote job. If you moved to a location without much jobs, you are going to put yourself in a difficult bind. If you bought a house, tougher!
- cheez 7y agoI solved this problem for myself years ago: make your own job. May not pay as well for a bit, but every dollar is portable.
- ge96 7y agoOut of curiosity what do you do? If you don't want to share that's fine, but I also wish to do the same however have not found something to solve/make yet.
- cheez 7y agoLiterally the most boring thing you would ever think of which has tons of competitors. I sell it to big companies who don't mind spending $1K/year on it (h/t to Joel on software for this tip) If you want to do it, then find some product that exists, that you like, copy and tweak.
