Drinks like White Claw might have some added sugar, but they must not have much compared to beer. Probably fewer calories than an equivalent ABV beer.
From a brewery ( https://www.allagash.com/blog/calories-in-beer/?ao_confirm https://www.allagash.com/blog/calories-in-beer/?ao_confirm ):
> A 5% ABV BEER WILL HAVE AROUND 100 CALORIES FROM ALCOHOL ALONE.
From White Claw's FAQ ( https://www.whiteclaw.com/faq/faq-4/ https://www.whiteclaw.com/faq/faq-4/ ):
> Our White Claw® Hard Seltzer 12oz fruit flavors have 100 Calories, 2 grams of Carbohydrates/Sugars per serving size (355 ml can), and 5% ABV.
So basically they are close to the minimum number of calories necessary to include that much alcohol.
- bkjelden 7y agoMost 'light' macro beers (Miller Light, Coors Light, etc) have 4%-4.5% ABV and 95-105 calories. So the difference is pretty negligible.
