Ask HN: Do websites load slower when clicking a URL on an AMP page?
Sorry if this isn't a good question but, I've been noticing something lately and I'm curious why and if it's only me. Frequently, on mobile, I'll click on a link on a Google search and be taken to an AMP page. I don't like them, so usually I'll click the URL in the top bar and wait for the page to load painfully slowly. Lately though I've noticed if I just copy and paste the link directly, without loading the AMP page first and most sites load about as fast as the AMP page would have.
So I guess mostly, am I just crazy and noticing something that's not real? Is it done intentionally to make AMP pages seem faster? Is it something to do with Google trackers? Is it something else entirely?
