This case is another example of sensationalism. The teenager has a rare and unusual case of malnutrition. He's gone blind by pure chance and circumstance; there are other possible outcomes. It's the fact that he's gone blind from eating junk food that the media obviously monetizes. Other cases with different outcomes do not sound just as interesting. I know at least one person who avoids vegetables because of a phobia/aversion. And, I know from personal experience that actually healthy nutrition can be really costly depending on where one lives. I also know from personal experience that malnutrition in itself is as common as the common cold.
