Yup. I've spent some time researching this and watching and contributing to a lot of conversations with technical folks. We can't instrument websites and applications. Data, once collected, never dies and nobody can be sure of where it will end up. We have to stop. The model itself is broken. Now it's up to the public policy folks to figure a way to get us out of this mess. I am not optimistic in the short run.
