In short, allegedly John Brockman (the guy behind Edge) had close ties with Jeffrey Epstein, and there's some reason to suspect he had a pretty good idea of at least some of the bad things Epstein got up to but continued to take his money and promote him as a scientific philanthropist and interesting thinker. (It is entirely possible that Morozov has axes of his own to grind, and I don't know how accurate that article is. But it's probably fairly representative of why some people might think Edge should at least be keeping a low profile for a while.)
