Hmm... actually, process and outright automation (the apotheosis of process) work brilliantly for certain types of work. Got something boring and repeatable? Process / Automate the daylights out of it. You'll be better off. Anything that requires innovative thinking or customer focus? Requires fitting square pegs in round holes? Probably isn't going to go so well... Speaking as someone who spends more time trying to manage the former (boring + repeatable), independent humans are generally the key point of failure in any process.
