It always annoyed me in organic chemistry lab how we would all follow the "exact same instructions" and end up with totally different results and yields. I always hoped a more accurate, programmatic way of performing chemistry would come along. As a chemical engineer who switched into data science, I would love to perform chemistry experiments just by feeding a computer program into a specialized robot and waiting for the output.
