Scott McNealy was a protegé of Jack Welch, and Scott applied the Six Sigma philosophy to Sun. There was a whole corporate effort to get people trained up as black belts, etc. During the mid-2000s when the company was struggling, it was quite telling that the first people laid off from any organization were the Six Sigma Black Belts.
- presidentscroob 7y agoYep. It's another in a long line of management consulting's flavor-of-the-month subscription to TPS reports' KoolAid (TM). If there were such a thing as Scroob's law, it would be: An employee's worth is often inversely proportional to the number of their résumé-padding, bullsh!t certifications that they milked yee olde corp for tens of thousand$ in off-site conference$ and week$ of training.
