It makes sense for businesses, especially since instead of trying to predict future trends you can punch everything into a spreadsheet and instantly see if what you're spending money on is worth it. On a consumer level, I absolutely despise every form of aaS. I want to buy something, be it hardware or software, and use it until it breaks. I'm not going to pay a monthly subscription for a word processor or an operating system any more than I would pay a monthly subscription for a hammer.
