- rolph 7y agoin alaska you have to have permission to enter private property while in possesion of a firearm, publicly accessed private property is a different case and a sign usually is used to notify people you dont want them to enter with a firearm, as well as to serve as a reminder in prohibited or restricted areas such as one of the bases or a federal institution. That being said if you ever visit Alaska your best assumption is that everyone, even a little kid is carrying or has nearly immediate access to a firearm. There is a reason for the dearth of firearms and that reason[s] is about 1000lbs covered in fur whith 6inch claws and pointy teeth. when a brownie starts tearing into your cabin you want a large calibre weapon and quick recharge. 44 magnum or large cartridge 30 cal rifle with a magazine ie Ruger mini 30 is the usual choice there are a lot of firearms in alaska and the aquisition/possesion laws are loose but there is little leniency for weapons misconduct.
