The Model X is a luxury vehicle. Luxury vehicles have always been expensive to maintain. Example:
Front strut for a 2016 Ford Fusion, $92 [1].
Front strut for 2016 Mercedes S550, $1,406 [2].
So I'm hoping the Model 3 will be different since it's a high production vehicle.
