The title should be:
Some reasons not to use Brave Rewards
If you don't agree with their method of paying creators with their crypto, then just don't opt-in to it.
I'd understand this complaint if this was opt-out.
- LeoPanthera 7y agoNone of the three reasons presented are specific to Brave Rewards. They're all about the company and its investors, and so by extension the company's motivations.
- prophesi 7y agoAll three reasons are directly specific to Brave Rewards. That's their business model that caught Peter Thiel's eye. Which you can opt-out of. If you believe the actual browser is siphoning off information to Palantir, that's an entirely different story. But for now, this post just reads like a conspiracy theory. The browser's FOSS. Surely switching.social is capable of checking the source code for anything fishy, and using that as their ammo instead.
- throwaway8879 7y agoIt may sound like a conspiracy theory to you, but it looks to be a case of healthy paranoia to me. Brave seems to me all kinds of shady. My browser should have nothing to do with tokens, crypto, paying content producers etc. All of that leads me to be suspicious, without having to check the source code.
