It sounds like you're looking for something like distributed tracing (vs. vanilla logging).
Zipkin (https://github.com/openzipkin https://github.com/openzipkin) and OpenTracing (https://github.com/opentracing https://github.com/opentracing) purport to be vendor/platform agnostic tracing frameworks and have support with various servers/systems/etc.
X-Ray was pretty trivial to use in AWS land w/ Java as a client.
