It includes trade secrets, design patents, etc. You probably don't give a damn about the IP of a tissue mill that includes production data and information about how they run their machines to get a perfect roll of toilet paper every time, but the companies I work with give a lot of a damn about that and have no desire to share that information with anyone ever and hold onto that IP like their life depends on it (because it very well might) You have to remember that "IP" isn't just stuff that you might want. You have to look past your own nose a little.
