> what they believe to be technically inferior solutions When a lot of programming language research is pseudo science, technical superiority of a programming language becomes almost impossible to judge from CS point of view and yet these are the backgrounds people judging programming languages usually have. So here we are, not even able to have proper discussions concerning programming languages. Maybe things will change in the future now that actual empirical evidence can be gathered from open source code and bug trackers, but so far it doesn't seem to have a significant impact.
